Finding New Ways to Connect on 2021
Pandemic workday has trapped us in longer screening time than we did before. Gathering in person is much more needed to do so. Yet the quality of communication with others may overcome our complex problems.
This is a new year, January 1 is the time to put a resolution in your ready big blank journal. I think writing resolution is what so many of us do in this time of year. Today I’m not going to make plans or set goals on my bullet journal (Bu-Jo), but to balance our feeling through endless workload during pandemic and how to avoid burn out.
Here are several tips that I have acknowledged from the events of the past and continuously improve myself to look forward better.
1. Set aside time to celebrate new year’s with your neighbourhood
It is the new normal that we can only gather in limited person outdoors. You can’t just watch the fireworks from your window’s house and all alone with your thoughts and feelings. But, if you can, ask your neighbour to make small quaran-tini party in the garden house. Otherwise, consider social distancing and don’t forget to use hand sanitizers.
2. Use friend’s birthday as an excuse to staycation in luxury hotel
Quarantine doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the fun of vacation, maybe shopping and travelling to Bali isn’t the thing right now but, this is a great opportunity to stay in the best five star-hotel in the city with the lowest rate. To give it an extra, planning ahead a weekend night to celebrate your best-friend birthday and give her a surprise in bed, then you do you! Just like vacation in Bali’s villa, some top notch hotel had villa-themed room that we can reserve in limited slots. Hurry, before they’re gone!
3. Do a ‘Ladies Night’ where group of women friends arrange virtual meeting about a special interest of theirs (it can be your IELTS speaking practice too >,<)
Think about the things you like to do, the things you haven’t had the time to do, and the new things you’re interested in doing. For me, I’d like to ask my toastmaster friend to create an activity such as IELTS speaking practice and chit chat until drop.
4. Remotely chat with your closest and use that as ‘date’ on daily basis
The key is to find a way to keep contact and enhance your relationships with your partner. Like we wait and expect our boyfriend to talk first in chat but he didn’t. You’ll be willing to try different ways of communicating such as make video call then light a candle or listen to his problems intently. It shows you to be more ‘present’ and actually can maintain a mellow sort of mood in the relationships.
5. Plus, you need some time for yourself. Try to put your boundaries back in place then enjoy taking hot showers.
Research found that a hot shower helps lower blood sugar and considers health-related quality of life. We know that workday can drag your productivity because of emails, meetings and works that never end. This habit might be a good idea to relieve your body tension and can help soothe muscle fatigue from sitting too much. For ultimate night’s sleep try meditate and diffuse essential oils a few minutes in the bathroom. The smell of essential oil it’s a complete relaxation that will bring the new you in 2021.
